　　林语堂，中国现代著名作家、学者、翻译家、语言学家。早年留学美国、德国，获哈佛大学文学硕士，莱比锡大学语言学博士。回国后在清华大学、北京大学、厦门大学任教。曾任联合国教科文组织美术与文学主任、国际笔会副会长等职。林语堂曾两度获得诺贝尔文学奖提名。作品包括小说《京华烟云》《啼笑皆非》。散文和杂文文集《人生的盛宴》《生活的艺术》以及译著《浮生六记》等。

　　《林语堂英译诗文选：明清小品（中）》是“林语堂英译诗文选”丛书中六本之一，收录了林语堂翻译的清代著名文学家张潮的作品《幽梦影》和《七疗》，以及黄宗羲、史震林等文人大家所著明清小品。林语堂熟谙中西文化，其翻译中有创作，译文不仅充分展示出其英文造诣，而且把中国文人的情感、思想以及生活传达给西方读者，使西方读者能够了解和欣赏中国文化，进而推进了中外文化交流。
