科林伍德(Robin George Collingwood)是英国哲学家、史学家、考古学家、美学家,也是西方分析历史哲学的典型代表。他学识广博,著述等身,主要有《宗教与者哲学》《心灵之镜》《艺术哲学》《艺术原理》等。他的思想对西方历史理论和艺术理论均产生了较大影响。
《历史的观念》一书是科伦伍德死后由其学生根据其讲稿、演说整理而成,该书全面系统地阐述了历史观的发展和他本人的历史哲学观,阐述“一切历史都是思想的历史”的观点,他认为历史不是抄袭史料,而是做出自己的结论;重要的不是它的真伪,而是它的意义。作为代表作,其历史哲学观是对传统思辨历史哲学的反叛。他所强调的史学研究中的主动性和批判精神在今天仍具有借鉴意义。
